Job Description

This position is a key contributor to the PPP support for the Digital Asset Management (DAM) program at Sellafield. The PPP support team collaborates closely with Sellafield's asset management capability, forming an integrated project team.

The DAM program is a comprehensive site-wide initiative aimed at enhancing delivery processes at Sellafield. It addresses critical issues in asset management, with a specific goal of achieving "An integrated information line of sight from the asset through to the enterprise that integrates activities across the asset lifecycle, removes the burden of paper-based work processes from our teams, and engages everyone in the use of modern digital technologies to inform decision making."

Role Responsibilities:

As the Application Architect, you will play a pivotal role in developing and managing the architecture of applications. Your close collaboration with cross-functional teams will ensure the delivery of scalable, secure, and efficient solutions. Your expertise will be instrumental in translating business requirements into technical solutions and fostering technical innovation.

Main duties include:

Specific:

  • Creation of designs for applications and their related APIs.
  • Integration of multiple applications into an enterprise through an API middle-tier capability.
  • Technical assurance of developers and test teams.
  • Active participation in an agile sprint-based team.
  • Knowledge of security-accredited solutions and the design of applications to meet security requirements.
  • Proficiency in both manual and automated software development tools.
  • Experience in managing integration tests and providing support for application testing.
  • Oversight of code management, branching strategies, and release processes via Azure DevOps.
  • Delivery within agile methods such as SCRUM and a DevOps environment.
  • Minimum of three years' experience delivering solutions in a secure environment.
  • Experience in using industry-standard methods for documenting and controlling the devSecOps process.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with team members and diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, ensuring timely delivery to specified timeframes and estimates.
  • Strong written, oral, comprehension, and presentational skills.

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Ability to provide architecture guidance for applications and their APIs, including the production of high and low-level designs.
  • Understanding of requirements, design, and development options to meet user requirements, providing architectural guidance to the DevOps team.
  • Establishment and assurance of development timescales, backlogs, priorities, and risks to ensure successful delivery.
  • Validation and oversight of Third Party Vendors and System suppliers.
  • Development and maintenance of development policies and procedures.
  • Experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Agile, and traditional working.
  • Thorough understanding of appropriate development to support UK Gov security assurance of Systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience across the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Management and leadership of development teams alongside a Development/Project Manager.
  • Creation of Systems design documentation and assurance of test plans.
