The difference you will make as an Assistant People Partner 

You will contribute to the delivery of an excellent People Partnering service across Riverside, through the provision of a professional, accurate, consistent, confidential and flexible support service for the team and customers.

About You 

You will be CIPD Level 5 qualified with a comprehensive up to date knowledge of Employment Legislation and HR best practice. You will be able to evidence of effective stakeholder management, both internally and external to the organisation, including the ability to successfully persuade and influence others.

?Role Requirements 

  • Role model, champion and embed Our Riverside Way and ways of working, collaborating with People Services and business colleagues to achieve the Riverside aspired culture.
  • Support People Partners with the planning and implementation of all operational aspects of the People Plans that support strategic aims within the Directorates,
  • Own the operational aspects of people change initiatives, as directed by the Head of People Transformation, People Advice and Policy Manager and/or People Partner including Organisational Design and TUPE transfers,
  • Manage own portfolio of project work and support People Partners and wider team with the operational aspects of their project work.
  • Be the first point of contact for escalated employee relations cases that need involvement beyond the People Advice Team, working with both People Advisors and People Partners to ensure a wider team awareness and agreement of plans.
  • Work with both the People Advice Team, People Partners and managers to ensure that recommendations from the conclusion of ER casework are acted on and implemented – including root cause analysis and the development of preventative, proactive measures.
  • Work proactively with the wider People Services Team as required to, develop and promote a seamless experience for customers.
  • Support the People Services Team and People Transformation & Partnering function by helping to ensure that the Riverside People Strategy and Plans – together with underpinning frameworks and policies - are embedded and adhered to.
  • Maintain industry knowledge and expertise, keeping abreast of People Partnering developments and best practice, identifying opportunities to contribute to and shape future decision making.
  • Respond flexibly to any necessary changes in work priorities and undertake other duties when required to support the effective operation of the service.
  • Ensure that all information security requirements, including data protection, are met in accordance with the Group’s policy, procedures and statutory requirements.

Person specification 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

Essential 

  • Demonstrates Our Riverside Way and ways of working
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified, or equivalent, or working towards
  • Comprehensive up to date knowledge of Employment Legislation and HR best practice
  • Evidence of effective stakeholder management, both internally and external to the organisation, including the ability to successfully persuade and influence others
  • Good knowledge and experience of the operational aspects of organisational design, TUPE and transformational change programmes, including coaching and advising managers
  • HR generalist with extensive experience in case work and advising senior leaders in advising on complex cases and resolving people related issues.
  • Customer focused with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work at all levels within the business
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work on own initiative, under pressure, deliver to strict deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
  • Experience of generating and analysing data

Desirable 

  • An understanding of strategic People Partnering
  • Experience of working with people plans resulting from employee engagement surveys and other people MI and data
  • Investigation and mediation experience
  • Experience of consultation with employee groups or trade unions
  • Understanding of social housing sector and the challenges it faces
  • Evidence of continued professional development
