Job Description

Morrison Energy Services is recruiting for a Civils Site Manager to work on our SSE framework project delivering a 275kV BESS Connection Project.
As the Civils Site Manager you will report to the Senior Project Manager and be part of our Renewable Connections team who are responsible for delivering this design & build project of the SSE 320MW 640MWh Project.
This is a 320 MW transmission-connected BESS project located in Yorkshire close to the A1(M) Junc 42 and includes 275kV system design, supply, installation, and commissioning for the complete system.
As the Civils Site Manager you will be an integral part of the management team delivering the project from conceptual design through to commissioning and client handover.
Morrison Energy Services is one of the largest Independent Connection Providers (ICP’s) operating across the UK. We are highly experienced in designing, constructing and commissioning large scale, high voltage connections for our clients, to adoptable Distribution Network Operator (DNO) standards, private wire networks and EHV transmission infrastructure.
Your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Assist in design development and implementation.
  • Day to day management of site operatives, subcontractors and site work.
  • Have the ability to work under minimum supervision and competent to check the work of others and supervise less experienced or junior staff.
  • Development and implementation of Safety documentation including Health and Safety Plans, Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Monitor performance of site operatives and subcontractors with respect to Health and Safety, Quality and Environment.
  • Comply with the requirements of the company Management Systems including Health & safety, Environmental and all other appropriate regulations.
  • Undertake inspections in line with accepted Inspection Test Plan’s (I.T.P’s) & Inspection Check Lists (I.T.C’s).
  • Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate identify innovation/best practice for consideration Development and implementation of Safety documentation including Health and Safety Plans, Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Undertake inspections in line with accepted Inspection Test Plan’s (I.T.P’s) & Inspection Check Lists (I.T.C’s).
  • Client liaison whilst on site including client audits.
  • Input to the planning and programming of current and future works i.e. rolling programmes.
  • Notify Project manager of possible variations/early warnings and keep suitable contemporary records (detailed daily diary).
  • Assist in compilation of documents and As Built drawings for Handover files.
  • Liaise with project SHEQ lead & Senior Project Manager to produce and deliver daily site briefings.
Essential Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
  • Experience in infrastructure construction preferably in a battery storage project environment or similar.
  • Knowledge of current legislation relating to Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work within budget and to programme timescales.
  • Ability to work within a team environment including clients, designers and quantity surveyor.
  • Knowledge of large civils schemes
  • IT literate, specifically in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, CAD.
  • Full Driving Licence.
  • Demonstrable experience in delivery projects over £20m in this or a similar role.
  • Proficient in organising resources and establishing priorities.
  • Valid and appropriate CSCS Card
  • Site Managers Safety training (SMSTS)
Candidates should preferably have the following qualifications:
  • Temporary Works Supervisor / Co-ordinator
  • NRSWA Supervisor
  • National Grid or (I)DNO Competencies
