Job Description

Morrison Energy Services is currently looking to recruit a Continuous Improvement Manager to work on our SP Energy Networks contract in Bellshill, Scotland.
The Continuous Improvement Manager will act as a liaison between business stakeholders and perform a range of activities which will help identify opportunities for continuous improvement within a large Scottish based, electrical civil engineering contract and ensure the opportunities identified are validated and fit for purpose prior to implementing operational change.
As the Continuous Improvement Manager your Duties and Responsibilities will be:

  • Ability to drive and support the delivery of a continuous improvement culture working in an efficient and effective way
  • Lean and Defect Analysis under DMAIC principles
  • Pro-actively develop and support strategic innovation initiatives and champion positive change
  • Support and oversee change through process re-engineering, ensuring that the change is delivered
  • The Continuous Improvement Manager will support the business and client’s needs
  • Ensure that the changes delivered provide the highest and best return on Investment. Documentation and presentation of a business case in support of all changes identified
  • Prioritise and deliver change to support our strategic objectives. Maintain a scoring matrix, ensuring that we focus on the key areas required to support the operation
  • Supporting the agreed KPIs though process and systems improvement
  • Maintain a library of supporting documentation for the contract, including change documentation, process maps, RACI, user guides and Contract handbook and ensure knowledge sharing
  • Identify and evaluate different technologies aligned with business goals and strategy
  • Help to identify opportunities to improve service, quality , safety and profitability by improving existing or implementing new processes and systems
  • Develop and maintain positive close-working relationships with all levels of business stakeholders, communicating regularly and appropriately, challenging and influencing them where necessary
  • Work with in-house and outsourced IT management to develop current systems, deploy new solutions and build interfaces between systems where required

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Solid background of working in a team that delivers continuous improvement projects and programmes
  • Experience in complex process modelling, storyboarding, solution design proposals and process and systems mapping (including MS Visio)
  • Lean Six Sigma (green belt or above) or equivalent experience
  • Pro-active, ‘can-do’ behaviour and attitude. This role requires someone who can generate their own work and manage it through to successful delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written communicational skills
  • Good accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines whilst achieving tangible benefit
  • Ability to communicate complex existing or proposed solutions to non-technical stakeholders to secure project budget and buy-in. Proven experience of measuring and selling benefits to the business as well as evidencing and delivering cost savings

Any of the following would be highly desirable, but not essential:

  • Knowledge of civil engineering projects and/or the Energy Industry
  • Prince2, Agile or additional Business Analysis qualifications
  • Practical knowledge of Work Management Systems and the related functionality / data requirements
  • Strong understanding of digital platforms and cloud-based infrastructure
  • Experience in analysis of complex data sets
  • Expertise in systems implementation and database architecture
