About The Role
Team – Member Active Engagement
Working Pattern - Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Vitality Bournemouth Office. Full time, 35 hours per week.

What this role is all about:
As a Front End Engineer you will design, build, and improve website software that meets user needs. In this role, you will also:

• Collaborate and work closely with other disciplines to develop designs and working prototypes based on user and business needs
• Develop software components that form part of a product to meet user and business needs.
• Write clean, well-tested code that follows web standards
• Coach and mentor more junior colleagues

Key Actions

• Build user interfaces that meet a predefined set of standards. Champion accessibility to internal stakeholders. Provide design feedback and recommendations on best tools and methods to mitigate the risk of failing accessibility testing
• Work collaboratively in a group, actively networking with others
• Make decisions characterised by different levels of risk and complexity to resolve technical disputes and recommend decisions as risk and complexity increase
• Work to design systems, translate agreed designs into working user interfaces. You will be following modern standards to manage and document technical complexity to make sure work is easily maintained and reusable
• Co-ordinate all aspects of system integrations and take responsibility for the tests surrounding user interfaces. Test and support the integration of Front End code with wider development teams
• Operate and perform actions confidently within, but not limited to, the software: Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, and Jenkins
• Collaborate with user researchers and interaction designers to represent user needs internally
• You will show an awareness of web performance issues, supporting activities to improve web performance to identify and resolve issues

Essential Skills needed to fulfil this role:

• Be passionate about Design and User Experience, with a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of best practices
• Have an impressive portfolio of work that showcases their experience with the three fundamental Front End technologies (HTML, CSS and JavaScript)
• You will have sound knowledge of Design Systems, and understand the role they play within the development lifecycle
• Have the ability to collaborate and communicate with multi-disciplined teams and stakeholders
• You will have a strong understanding of the importance of accessibility, and the role it plays within web design and development
• Be passionate about Design and User Experience, with a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of best practices
