Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

Role summary:

The Senior Instrument Cluster Engineer is responsible for development, test and delivery of state-of-the-art electronic cluster features.

The role requires a highly motivated and hands-on team player with an exceptional attention to detail. The role will suit an Engineer with the ability to quickly develop skills in new areas and liaise with other engineers within a multidisciplinary team.

 

Dimension of Function:

Engineering, Research and Development (ER&D) is a growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on projects and programmes for our clients. This position will be working on Cockpit electronics projects for our customers.

 

Area of Responsibility:

To own and be responsible for feature definition & ownership, Component ownership and delivery responsible for electrical components. These include Working with a leading automotive manufacturer a Design and Project Engineer for Instrument Cluster / Head-up display is required for an automotive OEM.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Development of Instrument Cluster, Head-Up Displays and Displays to meet Design and Test standards.
  • Lead design reviews to ensure the parts under development are delivered in line with program requirements for cost, quality and timing.
  • Maintain part BOM across European vehicles.
  • Prepare functional specifications through discussion with system owners, customer orientated engineering, styling and trim engineers.
  • Review and approve part drawings submitted by suppliers.
  • Manage in-house and supplier validation of the parts.
  • Resolve technical issues with in-house test departments and suppliers.
  • Support vehicle development builds at European manufacturing sites. Investigate, contain and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Conduct vehicle life cycle cost reduction idea generation and implementation
  • Lead vehicle life cycle warranty investigations and countermeasure implementations.
  • Prepare and present development status and strategy plans to Senior Management.

 

Knowledge & Experience:

Essential:

  • Experience of Instrument Cluster, Head-Up Displays or Displays development within automotive industry.
  • Understanding of electrical theory related to the parts and connected circuits.
  • Familiar with software development and validation methods.
  • An understanding of LIN or CAN communication and tools.
  • Familiar with electrical architecture or other similar automotive architecture.
  • Experience of BOM management.
  • Understanding of manufacturing techniques used for the parts.
  • Experience of the parts cost drivers and budget setting.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD tools.
  • Well organised and a good communicator.
  • Have supplier management experience.
  • Knowledge of automotive development systems e.g. releasing
  • Complete knowledge of Product Development cycle from concept to launch completion
  • Ability to produce formal documentation to a professional standard.
  • Organised, systematic and understand the process of fault finding.

 

Desirable:

  • Passion for the automotive industry, technology and/or audio would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience and understanding of vehicle level system integration in terms of hardware and software
