Job Description

Are you someone who wants to support others? Are you a reliable, trustworthy and caring individual? Are you seeking a role where you can specialise in mental health/additional needs?

If the above applies to you then this could the role you have been looking for!

An outstanding and innovative school, based in Witney, are looking for a Special Needs & Mental Health Teaching Assistant, to support their pupils throughout the school day. Here, you would be supporting pupils between 4 and 18 who have a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, attachment issues, emotional dysregulation and sensory processing disorder. If there was ever a rewarding role, then this is it!

As a Special Needs & Mental Health Teaching Assistant, your day-to-day would involve boosting the academic success and emotionally wellbeing of the SEN students. You will help deliver materials created by the teacher, work 1:1 with each child to ensure their milestones are being met and join the other members of staff in creating a fun and positive learning environment, so that every child can thrive! You will act as both a role model and a mentor.

By working as an SEN & Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will gain invaluable experience working in the mental health sector, learning about different needs and mental health conditions, and how to support these individuals. This could be the crucial step you need to begin a career in Psychology, Criminology or Probation Work.

The ideal SEN & Mental Health Teaching Assistant will have previous experience working with children and/or adults with additional needs. This could be in a professional capacity or from personal experience, such as having a family member or friend with additional needs. A degree in a relevant field would also be fantastic, such as Psychology, Social Sciences or Criminology, as well as a general understanding of SEN. However, personality is most important - if you are bubbly, passionate about helping others, and have a caring disposition then please apply for this role!
