We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team, working specifically with a Year 3 child with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Job Description:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Year 3 Teaching Assistant to support a child with SEMH needs. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide targeted interventions and support to ensure the child's well-being and academic progress.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one support for a Year 3 child with SEMH needs.
* Implement individualised strategies and interventions to support the child's social, emotional, and academic development.
* Create a safe and supportive learning environment.
* Assist in developing and implementing the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
* Use visual aids, social stories, and other tools to help the child understand and manage their emotions.
* Facilitate small group activities to promote social skills and peer interactions.
* Monitor and report on the child's progress to the class teacher and SENCO.
* Foster positive relationships with the child, parents, and staff.
* Support the child during transitions and unstructured times, such as break and lunch periods.
* Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Experience working with children with SEMH needs.
* Understanding of SEMH strategies and interventions.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children and adults.
* Patience, empathy, and resilience.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* A commitment to the well-being and development of children.
Desirable:
* Relevant qualifications in education or child development (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education).
* Experience working in a primary school setting.
* Training in specific SEMH interventions or strategies.
