Main purpose of the job:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to look after our UK entities within the group, the ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our financial processes. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the finance and compliance teams to uphold regulatory standards while contributing to the overall financial health and success of the organisation.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Lead the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results.
• Reconcile daily the merchant liability from Scheme and due to customers to ensure adherence to the regulations.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with IFRS and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Generate timely and accurate financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of regulatory changes in the financial services industry and ensure the company’s adherence to all relevant regulations.
• Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure financial practices align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate external audits, ensuring timely completion and accurate representation of financial data across all locations.
• Address and resolve audit queries and recommendations.
• Timely VAT reporting ensuring the correct calculation of partial exemption.
• Ensure compliance with all taxation requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of tax filings and respond to tax inquiries.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance function to enhance efficiency and effectiveness and to aid a quicker month end close.
• Implement best practices and streamline financial procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, compliance, and operations, to support business initiatives.
• Manage a team and provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the finance team.
Experience and Qualifications:
• Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA) with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience in the financial services industry, preferably within a regulated payment acquirer or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial regulations.
• Experience managing external audits and interacting with auditors.
• Proficient in using NetSuite and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience of managing teams
