Senior Dietitian

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Dietitian (Band 6) to join our Dietetics team. Based at The Duchess of Devonshire Wing (Cancer Centre) W1G 6JA, with a competitive salary range of £42,756 - £52,248 on offer, dependant on skills and experience.

The Duchess of Devonshire Wing is The London Clinic's dedicated award-winning cancer centre, which includes state-of-the-art radiotherapy, and chemotherapy suites as well as 47 dedicated patient bedrooms for Oncology & Haematology patients. With the latest advances in surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy, our expert consultants work closely with nursing teams to look after patients throughout their journey. We treat an extensive range of cancers, from breast cancer to rare tumours such as thymoma, and our purpose-built haematology unit is equipped to provide hemotherapy, immunotherapy and both autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplants.

Our reputable dietetic team is an integral part of many services within The London Clinic with the aim to improve patient outcomes through the latest evidenced based nutritional interventions. Dietitians are offered the opportunity to gain extensive experience on alternative methods of nutrition support including Parenteral Nutrition, complex tube feeding and ICU training

Job Profile

As a Senior Dietitian you will provide nutritional assessment and specialist dietetic treatment plans to the oncology service, which will include: Acute Oncology, the Chemotherapy Day Unit, The Stem Cell transplant unit and Radiotherapy.

To work flexibly across other inpatient and outpatient specialities to cover leave and increased demand as required.

Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent, working 37.5 hours per week.

Salary: The attractive salary range for this role is £42,756 - £52,248 (inclusive), and will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Shifts: Monday to Friday


Key Duties

  • Professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Provide a specialist dietetic service for adult oncology/haematology inpatients and outpatients.
  • Provide appropriate dietary advice to a range of patients with a variety of conditions for treatment, symptom control and/or nutritional support.
  • Provide cover in other areas of the service as required such as wards (medical/surgical wards and ICU), outpatient clinics or patient education sessions.
  • Undertake a comprehensive specialist assessment of patients' nutritional status, including those with complex presentations, using investigative, communication and analytical skills and account of medical, social, cultural and psychological states across all clinical settings.

Skills & Experience

  • BSc Dietetics or equivalent
  • Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered
  • Member of British Dietetic Association (BDA)
  • CPD relevant to elements of post e.g. oncology care
  • Proven experience of working with adults in the acute clinical areas of oncology and haematology at a band 5 or 6 or equivalent.
  • Experience of complex case management.
