Senior IT Operations Engineer, £40-45K, Onsite

Location: St Albans

Work days - Mon-Fri in the office, 9-5.30pm

We are recruiting for a leading company in the field of IT solutions and services, and we are looking for a Senior IT Operations Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of our IT infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud. You will also participate in various projects involving migrations, upgrades, deployments and integrations of new technologies and solutions.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

* Excellent knowledge of VMWare in a Hyper-convergence environment including P2V conversions as well as the ability to set up VMWare hosts both in a single host environment and multi-host environment with shared iSCSI or directly attached SCSI datastores. Also, a good understanding of VMWare vCenter is required. Experience of configuring and working with backup solutions for a virtualised environment using 3rd party tools such as VEEAM backup is also desired.
* Very good understanding and practical experience in Active Directory and it's components ranging from Windows 2003 to 2022. This includes setup, migrations, security aspects as well as maintenance.
* Good working knowledge of Linux including Active Directory Integration, Samba and shell scripting.
* Very good understanding of Microsoft Exchange versions 2010 onwards including ability to set up brand new Exchange servers as well as troubleshoot problems.
* Hands on experience in setting up various Windows Server roles including configuration and troubleshooting. (Remote Access, RDS with RDS Gateway and Session Broker, File Server, DHCP, DNS etc.).
* Practical experience in setting up routers, firewalls and switches (CheckPoint, Cisco, Dell etc.).
* Good all round IT knowledge across other popular solutions used on the market (SQL, IIS etc.).
* Good organization skills and ability to document deployments when participating in projects.
* Support not limited to; telephony via SIP, call recording, e-mail, desktops, servers, networking, communications lines, firewalls/anti-virus, backups, remote users, asset registration, DR systems and security guidelines

Desirable Skills - Not Essential but beneficial for the role:
* Fluent experience in Microsoft Office 2010 to 365. Ability to approach migration projects as well as brand new configurations.
