Senior Transport Planner
Location: Cambridge
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 – Depends On Experience
An independent transport planning and engineering consultancy is looking for a senior transport planner to join their team of 8 transport planners in the city centre of Cambridge.
Role overview:
- This consultancy are looking for a Senior Transport Planner to engage in all aspects of transport planning, traffic and transportation engineering including the preparation of Transport Assessments for new developments, to provide advice on the transport aspects of development master planning.
- As part of your role you will be required to manage smaller individual projects and provide professional and technical support to directors engaged in larger projects.
- You will be proficient in using and analysing data from the various Transportation software packages.
- As part of your input to the team and projects, you would be required to attend meetings, presentations, public consultation events and undertake site visits.
Client base:
The consultancy primarily serves private sector clients. As the senior transport planner, you will work on a variety of projects, including:
- Medium to large warehouses
- Residential developments ranging from 200-500 units to (phone number removed) units
- Commercial developments
- Food retailers
- Leisure projects
Skills & experience required:
- Understanding of and experience of working in the Planning Regulatory framework, and knowledge of planning and transport policy as applied to development
- Sound technical experience, including familiarity with relevant software e.g. TRANSYT, LINSIG, ARCADY, PICADY;
- A working knowledge of the relevant highway standards, including the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and the Manual for Streets;
- Capability to work to deadlines and work autonomously when required; and
- The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (both written and orally).
- Applicants should be able to demonstrate a proven track record in some or all of the above fields, be computer literate and have a good working knowledge of Transport Assessments and traffic modelling programs
- Experience of a range of Transport Planning solutions for both public and private sectors;
- Experience working in or with a multi-disciplinary design consultancy
